Seniors in Canada living below the poverty line across this country are currently set at $25,252, which is really not sufficient for the high price of food and accommodations. Many go without required medications or skip so they can eat. Some freeze in winter because they cannot afford heating bills. Some live in dilapidated housing because they need a roof over their head. Some get half of their CPP because they were forced to apply at age 60 because of the provincial governments, not by choice.

We need to increase the benefits of the social program to ensure Seniors get their full CPP when they turn 65, Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) and Old Age Security (OAS) need to be increased to ensure the income for seniors meets the poverty line threshold in Canada or exceeds it by $1000. Drug plans to cover all costs for seniors, including co-pay fees charged by the pharmacy. Other Medical coverage and expenses such as eyeglasses need more comprehensive coverage for seniors.

Increase the Income Benefits of all seniors-related social and health programs to ensure that our Seniors are taken care of in a manner justly deserved. Allow all Seniors to get their full CPP at age 65, along with OAS and GIS that all three be appropriately increased to ensure the income for a senior meets the poverty line threshold in Canada. Canadian Seniors Drug and Medical Plan covers all costs for seniors, including co-pay fees charged by the pharmacy. and other related medical cost up to 80%.

Au Canada, les personnes âgées vivant sous le seuil de pauvreté sont actuellement fixées à 23 500 $, ce qui n'est vraiment pas suffisant pour faire face aux prix élevés de la nourriture et de l'hébergement. Nombreux sont ceux qui se privent de médicaments ou qui sautent pour pouvoir manger. Certains gèlent en hiver parce qu'ils n'ont pas les moyens de payer les factures de chauffage. Certains vivent dans des logements délabrés parce qu'ils ont besoin d'un toit. Certains reçoivent la moitié de leur RPC parce qu'ils ont été forcés de faire une demande anticipée à cause des gouvernements provinciaux, et non par choix.
