The Green Party of Canada’s Constitution defines emergency motions (EM) as:
4.3.3 “Motions that are not submitted in advance and are moved from the floor of the meeting shall only be considered if they are of an emergency nature and shall require a 2/3 vote to be considered by the meeting.”
Members will decide the date and time of the EM submission deadline at the GM. Members will also decide the order of consideration for EMs, typically it is in the order that EMs were submitted.Â
If a proposal was submitted through the normal submission process, but failed to collect sufficient sponsors before the deadline, it will not be accepted as an EM.
To submit an EM, click on the "new Proposal" button on this webpage. You will be limited to one EM. Once submitted, members will be able to view the EMs on this webpage.
An all-member ratification vote is required for EMs that amend the Constitution or Bylaws. Members may choose to pass a motion at the GM that all member submitted motions must be included in the all-member ratification vote.Â
