Changes at "Green Party calls on Israel to end human rights atrocities against the people of Palestine"

Whereas, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, the U.N. Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT), and the Israeli human rights groups B’Tselem and Yesh Din have all stated that Israel is committing the crime of apartheid, which is the second worst crime against humanity (after genocide), and And whereas Israel’s policies such as forced evictions, home demolitions, and separation of Palestinian families across all territories under its control amount to apartheid, and whereas the Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in OPT stated that the political system of entrenched rule in the occupied Palestinian territory satisfied the prevailing evidentiary standard for the existence of apartheid.

And whereas Green Party leader Elizabeth May has acknowledged that what Israel is doing to Palestinians in the occupied Palestinian Territories is “much worse” than apartheid in South Africa.

And whereas Israel is committed gross human rights atrocities against the Palestinians of Gaza requiring greens of conscience to speak out immediatly.

Be it resolved that this proposal will be decided by the Green Party of Canada general meeting of February 2024 and not be postponed to a policy development process.

And be it further resolved that the Green Party of Canada hereby acknowledges and declares Israel to be an apartheid state and calls on Israel to end its human rights abuses against the people of Palestine.

And be it further resolved that the Green Party of Canada endorses the findings of the International Court of Justice with respect to charges of genocide brought against Israel by South Africa.

And be it further resolved that the Green Party of Canada supports the restoration of full funding to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) that was cut by Canada and other nations January 26, 2024.

Et considérant que Elizabeth May leader du Parti Vert a reconnu que ce qu'Israël fait aux Palestiniens dans les territoires palestiniens occupés est \"bien pire\" que l'apartheid en Afrique du Sud.

Et considérant qu'Israël commet des atrocités flagrantes en matière de droits de l'homme à l'encontre des Palestiniens de Gaza, ce qui exige des verts de conscience qu'ils s'expriment immédiatement.

Il est résolu que cette proposition sera décidée par l'assemblée générale du Parti vert du Canada de février 2024 et ne sera pas reportée à un processus d'élaboration de politiques.

Et qu'il soit en outre résolu que le Parti vert du Canada appuie le rétablissement du financement intégral de l'agence des Nations Unies pour les réfugiés palestiniens (UNRWA) qui a été supprimé par le Canada et d'autres pays le 26 janvier 2024.
