As a servant leader of the GPC, I am deeply committed to honouring our tradition of grassroots politics. Our core values find expression in our member-made policies: preserving sensitive ecosystems, fair trade not free trade, guaranteed liveable income, and solidarity with Indigenous rights. Â

I read Small is Beautiful by E.F. Schumacher when I was 17 and it influenced my life choices. I decided that I would live close to nature and have a small footprint. I live on Manitoulin Island, as a small business owner and educator. I joined the Green Party of Canada in 2005, ran as a candidate and started an EDA in 2006, and continue to support Green candidates as Official Agent and Financial Agent. I am proud to be part of the Constitution Working Group that in 2020 proposed Annual General Meeting, with guaranteed ability to attend and vote virtually - that just got adopted!
Â
In the fall of 2021 I helped create “Motion Mondays”, a chance to talk about the motions proposed by members. I want to continue online subject talks among members in a way that is creative and fun, and leads to real initiatives in our communities. Â

Now we are in an era of climate catastrophe. We must focus on creating a National Food Security Mandate. The groundwork was laid back in 2008 with the member-made policy, G08-PO72, "that localized organic agriculture, including urban agriculture…become a central component of the Green Party of Canada Climate Plan…” I believe Greens can begin this work now. Coordinating this effort will be an early aspect of my leadership of the GPC.
